HOW DOES THE PTO USE YOUR DONATIONS AT KENROSE?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BUILD THE NEST?
Build the Nest (BTN) is the slogan for the Kenrose PTO main Fundraising Campaign. Our school mascot is the Cardinal, so we like to think of the students as our cardinals and the school as their nest!
Over nine years ago, after receiving approval from the Kenrose Families, the PTO stopped having students/families raise their donations by selling popcorn, wrapping paper, etc. and changed to a check writing campaign. The check writing campaign was named, Build the Nest (BTN), and each Fall the the parents wrote a check for either what they could afford or for the suggested dollar amount per child. A second fundraiser was held in the Spring, called the Fun Run, to raise the final amount of funds needed to meet the educational & community needs of Kenrose Elementary.
About 5 years ago, after receiving approval from the Kenrose Families, the PTO also stopped raising funds via the Fun Run in the spring. Raising money via the Fun Run, entails the student/parents finding family and friends to sponsor their student and provide a donation based on how many laps the students runs in the Fun Run.
Instead of the Fun Run, the Kenrose Families agreed to increase the suggested amount of donation per child for the BTN campaign. This change provided two benefits. First, and more important to most families, was that their donation was spent in the school year in which it was provided. Second, the parents and students did not have to go out and fundraise for the Fun Run.
