2017-2018 PROPOSED BUDGET AND UPDATED BY-LAWS

Attached you will find the 2017-18 proposed budget and updated bylaws for the Kenrose PTO.  We will be opening an online vote to approve of these two items in approximately 2 weeks.

Regarding the budget: Our PTO budget is designed to provide our school and our students with the additional resources needed for a top-notch education and outstanding overall educational experience in our community.  The items of note that have changed from our prior years PTO Budget for the 2017-2018 school year include the following:
  • $7000 to be allocated to the new learning cottages for technology needs
  • $2000 set aside to gift to the new Split Log Elementary PTO when the new rezoning takes place, as is customary for the sending school.
  • Monies for new teachers and grade level changes, classroom rugs, and teacher supply funds change each year as our school changes and grows.
CLICK HERE to review the budget.

The changes in bylaws largely reflect our desire to streamline the document and move pertinent items to the Standard Operating Procedures.  One change of note, is under the new bylaws, the Executive Board will have the authority to approve payment/budget changes up to 5% of the operating budget.  CLICK HERE to read about the changes in the bylaws.

If you have questions about the bylaws, please contact Kris Helou at kghelou@yahoo.com

If you have questions about the budget, please contact Shelly Fletcher at shelfletcher@gmail.com.

SPECIAL RECRUITMENT SURVEY
  • Do you want Kenrose to be the best school it can be?
  • Do you want your student to have a great school year?
  • Do you want to know what’s going on in the school?

Then we would LOVE to spend some time speaking with you!  We are looking for volunteers for open positions in the 2017-18 school year, as well as people to help us transition as the rezoning takes place for the 2018-19 school year.

As you are aware, several developments currently zoned to Kenrose, will be rezoned to the new elementary school in 2018-19.   With this change, we will be losing many parent volunteers in all levels of commitment - committee members to chairpersons to board members.

If you are a parent who will remain at our school and are interested in becoming more involved, please let us know!  We are looking for parents who want to become more involved to spend time shadowing positions this coming school year (2017-18), so that when the rezoning happens (2018-19 school year), you will already have had a lot of hands on training.

Just because you choose to start shadowing, you won’t be committed to taking on a position.  However, we would like it if you would be available to assist the person who does take on that volunteer role with transferring the knowledge you learn from shadowing.

Please CLICK HERE to indicate your preferences.

Thank you so much for all you do for our school!!

FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

Please keep in mind these reminders for staying healthy this time a year.  CLICK HERE for the five helpful reminders.  Also, please CLICK HERE for a friendly reminder about our Medication Administration Protocol.  Students are not allowed to bring their own medication to school.

Medications in the Clinic:  If your child has medication in the health clinic, WCS protocol requires that all medication be picked up at the end of each school year.  The last day of school this year is Tuesday, May 23rdand it is a half day.  If it is not picked up by dismissal that day, the medications will be destroyed.  This includes all over-the-counter, prescription and emergency medicines.  If your child has emergency medicines in the clinic, I would prefer that they be picked up closer to or on the last day of school.  Thank you
